The Tilt-up panel construction method is becoming more and more popular. Forte’ Composite Inc., (See Gallary section of website)located at 2201 American Blvd. in De Pere is one of Smet Construction’s recently completed Tilt-up projects. Tilt-up panels are concrete walls that are generally poured in our factory, but can be poured on site. Because the panels can be poured in advance, construction time is decreased. The panels can be poured to accommodate almost any size building, providing a finished surface on the outside of the building. You can even go so far as to have your company name or logo molded into the panel. There are many benefits to Tilt-up wall panels including satisfying “General Building & Performance Standards” in most municipalities. Made of poured concrete, steel studs are embedded on the inside of the panel to create an 8” cavity for insulating, thus improving the R value. The 8” studs also eliminate the need for framing an inside wall because the sheet rock for an office area, or steel sheeting for the shop area, can be fastened right to the studs.
